Canal Street in New Orleans

This is a shot I took in late June 2005 outside my hotel on Canal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sure looks different now.

When I was down there, I don't remember anyone mentioning that the city was below sea level. I didn't have a rental car, and so I'd probably have been stuck there if a hurricane had struck during the convention. Next time I'm in the "Big Easy", I'll make sure I know what my escape route is.

That said, I'll definitely go back once they get up and running again. When the city is dry, it's a lot of fun.
